Built for the Cars Time Forgot
BushWorks Lab began with a simple frustration: modern car culture was becoming increasingly digital, disposable and disconnected from the machines themselves.
Cars were once filled with mechanical feedback, physical switches, analogue gauges and small imperfections that gave them character. You could hear what the engine was doing, feel what the tyres were doing and understand the machine without scrolling through a screen.
BushWorks was created to preserve that feeling.
Not by copying old automotive logos or printing generic car graphics onto clothing, but by building original designs around the details enthusiasts actually remember: instrument clusters, pedals, warning labels, technical diagrams, late-night drives and machines that were designed to be repaired rather than replaced.
How It Started
My name is Bush, and BushWorks Lab was born in Riga, Latvia.
The idea grew from years of being around cars, technology, design and hands-on projects. A major part of the inspiration came from working on my own Audi 80, a car from an era when driving still required attention, mechanical sympathy and actual driver input.
Every repair, strange noise and late-night drive reinforced the same thought:
Old machines may be less perfect, but they often feel more alive.
I wanted to turn that feeling into something people could wear.
What began as a few automotive design ideas slowly developed into a complete visual world. Sketches became technical drawings. Technical drawings became clothing concepts. Details were corrected, layouts were rebuilt and designs were tested repeatedly until they felt like parts of the same collection.
That process became BushWorks Lab.
The Idea Behind the Brand
BushWorks is built around three principles.
Less Software. More Soul.
Technology should support the experience, not replace it.
The brand celebrates cars with physical controls, visible engineering and honest mechanical feedback. It is not about pretending the past was perfect. It is about remembering what was lost as machines became quieter, smoother and increasingly disconnected from the people using them.
Original Automotive Design
Every BushWorks piece is created as part of a wider collection.
The designs are not random graphics placed on shirts. Gauge readings, typography, proportions, technical markings and print placement are treated as part of one connected system.
The front remains restrained. The back carries the story.
Made for People Who Understand
BushWorks is for the people who notice the difference between a real mechanical detail and decorative nonsense.
For the drivers who listen when an engine sounds slightly different.
For the people who still repair things.
For those who know that an old car is rarely only transportation.
Drop 001: For the Cars Time Forgot
The first BushWorks collection is dedicated to the machines that survived beyond their expected lifetime.
Cars kept alive through patience, improvised repairs, unavailable parts, late nights and owners who refused to give up on them.
Each design explores a different part of that world:
-
the connection between the driver and the controls;
-
the honesty of an analogue dashboard;
-
the atmosphere of an empty road at night;
-
and the memory of cars that disappeared from everyday streets but never completely left us.
The collection uses technical linework, bone-white markings, steel-grey details and restrained red accents on dark garments. The result is clothing designed to feel closer to an archival workshop document than ordinary automotive merchandise.
Made to Order
BushWorks products are produced individually when an order is placed.
This means there is no warehouse filled with thousands of identical pieces waiting to be sold. It allows the brand to grow carefully, test new ideas and avoid unnecessary overproduction.
Because each product is made to order, production takes a little longer than purchasing mass-produced clothing from a large retailer. That slower process is part of building BushWorks responsibly from the beginning.
More Than Clothing
BushWorks Lab is starting with automotive clothing, but the idea is larger than one collection.
The long-term goal is to build a creative workshop where design, old machines, digital tools, fabrication and physical products meet.
Future projects may move beyond clothing, but the foundation will remain the same:
Create original things with purpose.
Respect the details.
Keep old machines alive.
And never remove the soul just to make something easier to sell.
Welcome to the Lab
BushWorks is still at the beginning.
The first products, first samples and first customers are helping shape what the brand becomes next.
This is not a finished company pretending to have decades of history.
It is a real project being built piece by piece, in public, by someone who genuinely cares about the machines and ideas behind it.
Welcome to BushWorks Lab.
